On Thursday night I arrived in Torino as a guest of VIEWFest, the Italian evolution of RESFEST.

Our first stop after quickly dropping our bags at the hotel was the King Kong Microplex for the opening night reception. In addition to the super cool venue, a new cinema/cafe/restaurant that is actually the original location of the oldest cinema in Torino (early 1900’s), I was struck by the art exhibit.

The political posters are the extra curicular activity of Craig Foster, by day a talented graphic designer at Pixar Animation Studios. In addition to the art show Craig has been leading several workshops at VIEWFest that explain his day job which has included creating the cook book and product labels in Pixar’s last film Ratatouille.

Over dinner Craig told me that when he launched the website for his poster art he placed it at CIA Field Office (ciafieldoffice.com) and sent an announcement to the government for fun. Shortly afterward the site mysteriously went down for 12 hours.
